In 2023, Dr. Jordan Stern started the Professor Honky Tonk project, which is a venture that is intended to be both creative and educational.
One aspect of this project are collaborative recordings with various Texas Country artists. So far, Jordan has been thrilled to have artists such as Billy Mata, Brandon Padier, Felix Truvere, Dave Biller, and Ryan Stern collaborate on recording projects that feature Jordan’s original songs.
Another aspect of the Professor Honky Tonk project is a video series that is meant to provide a means for folks to learn more about country western music. In the series “From the Ground Up,” Jordan re-constructs classic country recordings note-by-note, analyzing the nuances of the song and highlighting the studio musicians along the way.
Jordan is currently producing a Professor Honky Tonk LP, which will feature central Texas musicians covering country-western songs that are local dance hall standards in this area, but never had commercial success.
